Artist
Hi there, and welcome to my webcomic. My name is Way Martineau Spurr-Chen. I'm half Chinese, and half white (and so are both my first and last name--my middle name is French, however). At the time of typing this, I'm 16 years old. I was born in the Windy City (Chicago, Illinois for those of you who live under a rock) in the year of the Goat (or the Horse?) and I'm a Leo--that should give you a good idea of where my birthday is, and a bit of information about my personality straight out. Or... if you don't believe in astrology... well, my bad. You can always just ask me--I'm not a very tight-lipped person.
I run and maintain this website completely on my own. I designed it and coded it, but the automated scripts (ComicShout, WordPress, ShoutBox, MediaWiki, phpbb3--if you're looking to run your own webcomic with a domain, this is all you need for starters.) are made by other people, much love to them. I write, draw, and color the comic on my own. As a result, I frequently don't know whether I should call myself the Author or the Artist--but the Artist seems more suitable. The comic is a compilation of eclectic interests and systems of belief, some devout, some esoteric, some mystical, some scientific, some theoretical, some philosophical, some extremely fascinating, and some downright silly. I don't admit to believing wholly in any of them, but I do carry them around in my head. I took all of these ideas and pushed them to extremes, and the result was this webcomic, in something I would call "Sci-Fantasy."
I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil. I've only recently had formal training--one was a class at a community college I took over the summer, and one I'm going through right now which is a Saturday art class. I don't have any particular favorite subjects, but I find myself fond of portraits and shiny things. I generally prefer graphite pencils or a drafting pencil with exchangeable lead. I usually only dabble in charcoal when told to. All my inking for my comic is done with an assortment of Micron pens, which is then scanned and colored in Photoshop, using a 6x8 Intuos2 Wacom Tablet. I've never done any commissions before, but I don't see any reason I wouldn't want to if an offer were to come my way. Why not?
Aside from drawing, I can write. I tend to think that my writing is better than my drawing, or that I at least have a better control over language than paper and pencil. I like to read a lot, but I generally find I don't have much time for reading anymore. I've lately been on a non-fiction stint, but I love fiction nonetheless. I also always tend to have two or three ideas for a novel at a time floating around in the back of my head, but I usually don't have time to work on them. Or, I'm just too lazy.
Uh, I can't really think of anything else to say here, so I'll just leave it at those kind of relevant topics. If you would like to contact me, email me.
